RI 2026 Modeling and Simulation Grad Intern

Responsibilities

Work closely with Aerospace technical staff to develop and mature a range of modeling and simulation software tools within the sub-division to support analysis in areas such as astrodynamics, navigation, communication, and optimization
Interact directly with local Aerospace personnel and collaborate with Aerospace personnel in other locations
Engage with software users and customers to refine capability requirements
Apply modern development practices in areas including rapid prototyping, parallel computing, cloud computing, and containerization

Required

Completed BS degree and enrolled full time in a MS or PhD degree program in computer science, aerospace engineering, computer engineering, mechanical engineering, systems engineering, mathematics, or other related disciplines from an accredited school
Availability to work full-time for a minimum of 10 weeks outside of university term and ability to return to a degree program full-time after completion of the internship
Prior internship with The Aerospace Corporation
Proficiency in one or more of the department's core computer languages (e.g., Fortran, C++, Python, Matlab, etc.)
Experience in implementing and optimizing modern software for deployment on Windows and Linux platforms
This position requires the ability to obtain a US Government Clearance (US Citizenship required)

Academic or professional experience working as a member of a technical team
Academic or professional experience in space-related modeling, simulation, and analysis
Academic or professional experience in modern software development, integration, and testing practices
Current DoD or SCI security clearance
Extensive experience in implementing and optimizing modern software for deployment on Windows and Linux platforms
