New Hope Housing, Inc. is a non-profit organization focused on affordable housing, and they are seeking a Controller to oversee their financial records and accounting personnel. Responsibilities
Effectively perform the full cycle accounting, reporting and analysis for 14+ multi-family affordable housing properties – managed by the organization and 3rd party property manager- and the development and construction of multiple new Low-Income Tax Credit (“LIHTC”) projects
Manage detailed LIHTC accounting and tax issues
Manage transaction accounting for real estate development project closings, construction drawings, grant and tax equity funding
Manage funding for construction draws construction loans and grant and public funding
Coordinate and review monthly accounting consolidation for multiple management entities (LLC/LLP) and non-profit corporations
Collaboration with business segment leaders
Supervise and manage accounting staff (4 direct reports)
Manage and review various monthly accounting estimates and journal entries
Schedule, supervise and review monthly accounting close
Prepare consolidated financial statements on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
Prepare variance analysis on financial statements
Administrative user for certain accounting/treasury programs/interfaces
Manage the preparation and consolidation of monthly financial reporting package for management, Finance Committee and Board
Supervise and review consolidated schedule of cash flows
Administers, reports and handles cash management – including compliance and payment of corporate loans
Coordinate all audits, including corporate, payroll, TDHCA and 403(b) and tax returns
Recommend updates to internal controls
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's or Master's degree in accounting from an accredited university
A minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including significant leadership roles as a Controller or Senior Accounting Officer
Proficiency in financial software (Real Page Financial Suite) and Excel for financial modeling
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with strong supervisory and interpersonal abilities
Ability to work under pressure, meet strict deadlines, and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment
Commitment to serving diverse communities and understanding of low-income housing issues
Ability to work effectively in project teams and with individuals from various backgrounds
Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
Attention to detail and recall and the ability to produce and analyze financial statements
Proven leadership skills, combined with the ability to roll up your sleeves and get things done
Preferred
Experience in the affordable housing or real estate industry is preferred
