Associate Teacher - Infant/Toddler (Toyon)

The Early Head Start Associate Teacher assists the Lead Teacher and/or Center Director in supervising, developing, and educating children while partnering with families in a Dual Language Immersion program.

Responsibilities
In this Dual Language Immersion center you will be a language model as assigned by program design
Develops and implements lesson plans to execute current program goals
Utilizes classroom materials and routines to promote an environment conducive to age appropriate levels of development, interests, and special needs of the children
Develops and maintains a safe and healthy classroom environment in accordance with Head Start, title 5, and title 22 regulations
Implements rules and practices in support of positive child redirection
Provides a continuous and interactive process between families and program providers that foster the parent partnership agreements as required by the federal regulations under the Head Start Act
Conducts required parent/teacher meetings as set forth by both the Head Start Act and Title 5
Conducts the ASQ and the ASQ/SE with children assigned to cohorts
Works on the Individualized Education Plan for each child assigned to cohort and updates with family
Maintains and updates written records and reports in accordance with the head Start and title 5 act in a timely manner
Maintains an open and friendly relationship with staff, parents, and program volunteers
Commits to inclusive practice to accommodate children with learning differences and special needs
Integrates Head Start Federal Mandates into the classroom routines and curriculum plans
Ensures personalized special services are provided to children with special needs (i.e, feeding, assistance with toiling, including diapering, specialized equipment and so forth)
Attends required classroom, center, and organization meetings
Assists other centers when requested
Performs all other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Minimum Associate Teacher Permit or higher credential
3 ECE units of Infant Toddler Development
Bi-Literate in Spanish (required) and/or Mandarin, Vietnamese (preferred)
Required CPR/First Aid Training Certification
16 hours of health and safety training which includes 1 hour of nutrition training
Required to be a mandated abuse reporter
Must pass a health screening and TB test
Must pass background fingerprint clearance
Valid Driver License
Must be 18 years or older
The ability to lift up to 30lbs may be needed during some job duties
Preferred
Supervision of teaching assistants and volunteers, highly desirable
Knowledge of Federal Head Start policies and procedures, highly desirable
