Sr. Sales and Use Tax Analyst

Responsibilities

Conduct thorough reviews of sales and use tax processes to ensure compliance with state and local regulations
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement tax strategies and optimize financial outcomes
Prepare and review indirect tax account reconciliations, including identifying and resolving incorrect tax posting
Work with data/technology teams on tools to enhance reconciliations and data completeness as well as process improvements
Prepare and review monthly indirect tax journal entries
Maintain, enhance, monitor, and document controls and processes within the U.S. indirect tax function, including Sarbanes-Oxley (“SOX”) key controls
Review and document process gaps as they relate to the indirect tax function
Identify and evaluate issues, efficiencies and opportunities related to indirect taxes
Review/Prepare U.S. indirect tax filings, as needed
Assist in state sales and use tax audits
Prepare and review Monthly Canadian (GST/PST/QST) tax returns
Periodic Indirect Canadian tax recovery reviews
Assists in other tax projects in the indirect tax area as assigned

Required

Bachelor's degree in business required (Advanced degree a plus)
4-8 years of experience in a tax position, either in public accounting or industry
Experience with state and local sales tax laws and regulations
Excellent communication and analytic abilities, with a proven track record of working effectively in a team and implementing process solutions with objective, measurable results
Strong MS Excel and Word skills are essential
Excellent organization skills, including the ability to balance multiple priorities

Preferred

CPA License or progress toward licensure a plus
Experience with tax research software (e.g. BNA) is a plus
Experience with Vertex and Oracle (or similar ERP system) is a plus
