Responsibilities

Manage day-to-day accounting for all grants, including federal, state, and private foundation funding
Monitor grant expenditures and ensure alignment with approved budgets and funding restrictions
Prepare and submit timely financial reports to funders in accordance with grant agreements
Coordinate the preparation of grant budgets, forecasts, and modifications in collaboration with program teams
Maintain accurate records of grant activity in the general ledger and ensure proper coding of transactions
Support month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations related to grants
Collaborate with development and program staff to track funding requirements, program deliverables, and spending progress
Assist with annual audits and funder-specific audits by preparing supporting documentation and responding to auditor inquiries
Stay current on relevant accounting standards, including GAAP and Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200)
Contribute to process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and compliance in grant accounting practices

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or advanced degree a plus)
Minimum of 4–6 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in nonprofit grant accounting
Strong knowledge of fund accounting and grant compliance, including federal and state regulations
Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, MIP, or similar) and advanced Excel skills
Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and organizational skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments
Commitment to the mission and values of the organization
