Information Technology (IT) Intern
Harris County is offering a paid summer internship for students through the P4FIP program. The IT Intern will support the daily operational activities of the IT Team and assist with help-desk requests as well as project support to enhance the organization’s technology infrastructure.

Responsibilities
Respond to help-desk tickets in a service-oriented manner, including hardware, software, and general support
Set up new computers with user profiles and security
Assist IT staff with mobile device management
Assist IT with Windows Active Directory & Entra ID management
Distribute and collect equipment within Precinct 4’s boundaries when required
Test, troubleshoot, and implement systems
Maintain and audit physical technology inventory
Perform other duties as needed
Qualification
Required
Must have a high school diploma or equivalency
Must have proficiency in Microsoft software applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Share Point
Exceptional clerical skills and strong business acumen
Organized, detail-oriented, and a skilled collaborator
Ability to effectively multi-task
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Comfortable self-starting assigned and unassigned tasks
Confident and eager to engage with end-users and technical staff
Good troubleshooting skills using logic and common sense
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
Deal constructively with conflict and focus on the situation, issue, or behavior, not the person, by diffusing situations before conflicts arise
Actively promoting and gaining cooperation from others
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear
The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
This position must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
Valid Texas driver's license with a good driving record
Preferred
Resident of Harris County Precinct 4
Graduate of NPower Tech Fundamentals Course
Knowledge of Microsoft Identity, Intune, and Active Directory is a plus
