Responsibilities

Lead the assembly, testing, and maintenance of advanced mechanical systems and components to meet required specifications
Work closely with engineers and lead technicians to ensure the quality and reliability of flight hardware
Assemble major structures and perform part-fitting operations for spacecraft systems
Translate blueprints into mechanical assemblies
Perform precision drilling, use calibrated tools, bond, troubleshoot, and develop expert skills in precision cleaning and handling mechanical hardware
Mentor less experienced technicians in complex mechanical assemblies, soldering, harness routing, inspection, in-process testing, precision cleaning, and structural fabrication
Inspect, assemble, integrate, and operationally check flight hardware
Assemble, test, and maintain mechanical systems and components to meet specifications and standards
Use high-precision measurement tools to ensure components meet specified tolerances while adhering to general best shop practices, including PPE and shop safety requirements
Follow 5S, FOD, and ESD awareness protocols, lift and carry up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, stairs, and work in restrictive spaces
Collaborate with team members to achieve production goals

Required

Typically 5+ years of experience in a mechanical or manufacturing environment
Familiarity with general best shop practices, including PPE and shop safety requirements
Ability to perform advanced equipment setup and maintenance activities and display mechanical aptitude and hand tools/precision tools competency
Expertise in precision cleaning
Knowledge of 5S, FOD, and ESD awareness
Ability to conduct verification/troubleshooting of own work and assist others
Advanced understanding of mechanical assemblies, soldering, harness routing, inspection, in-process testing, precision cleaning, and structural fabrication

Preferred

Certifications: IPC & J-STD
A&P License
Strong communication skills (both written and oral)
Proficiency in using hand and power tools
Advanced understanding of mechanical systems and components
Ability to interpret technical drawings and blueprints
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
