Facilities and Operations: 3D Scanning Intern
The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art is one of the largest museums of modern and contemporary art in the United States. The FacOps 3D Scanning Intern will support the museum by adding to the library of gallery scans and assist in reorganizing architectural drawings, contributing to the museum's operational goals.

Responsibilities
Support the museum by adding to our library of gallery scans
Using a Leica BLK360 3D scanner, take lidar and image scans, assemble point clouds, and create 3D models of the facility
Assist in a detailed reorganization of our digital and hardcopy architectural drawings
Meet with various members of the Operations Team and partners to understand the need for and usage of Lidar scans of the entire building, with a focus on gallery and public spaces
Learn how to operate the Lidar scanner and ingest point clouds into Sketchup
Execute Lidar scans of gallery and public spaces, create and upload point clouds to the internet
Audit existing Building Plan Archives organization, nomenclature, and gaps in information
Work with department staff to understand how the Operations Team utilizes the Building Plan Archive
Participate in other team projects requiring technical expertise and creativity in analysis
Qualification
Required
Applicants must be currently enrolled in school or a recent graduate. The SFMOMA recognizes a graduation date within 6 months of the internship start date as a recent graduate
If you are a current employee of the SFMOMA applying for an internship, you must be a current student or a recent graduate, within 6 months of the internship start date
University level study in architecture, construction or related fields
Experience with 3-D scans, point clouds and 3D models
Experience converting point clouds into Revit and/or SketchUp models
Detail-oriented and organized
