Controls Calibration Engineer

Responsibilities
Ensures that instrumentation and utilities control systems are properly specified, installed, programmed and calibrated to perform design function
Safely and effectively troubleshoot analog/digital hardware on utilities process control systems, and instrumentation, including distributed control systems (DCS), programmable logic controllers (PLC's) single loop analog controllers and related peripherals such as scanners, recorders, field I/O devices, etc
Periodic assessment/inspection of field device calibration frequencies and addressing "bad actor" instrument performance for replacement/upgrade
Assist engineering in development of functional specifications and/or design on process control systems for controls programming on major equipment/systems
Support validation and project commissioning associated with instrumentation and controls
Ensures tasks are performed and documented in compliance with approved procedures, standards, GxP, and other quality requirements
Completes assigned workload within predetermined schedules, and performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Safety knowledge, awareness and compliance with all safety, quality and other job-related policies and procedures; Actively participate in workplace safety and quality audits, and in other Corporate and departmental programs or initiatives
Use of precision tools and equipment to complete instrumentation/controls related tasks
Establishes and builds relationships and good communication channels with team members, customers, and other personnel, both internal and external to Abbott
Qualification
Required
Controls technician with at least 2+ years utilities equipment/systems experience (boilers/steam &condensate, chillers & cooling towers/chilled water, compressors/compressed air oil-free, distillation units/pretreatment & purified water, etc.), or equivalent related experience
High School Diploma/GED
Knowledge of electrical, electronic, pneumatic, mechanical, and process control systems
Capable of using standard department information tools, including but not limited to, CMMS, computers, tablets, data gathering systems, logs, etc
Preferred
An accomplished controls technician with 5+ years utilities equipment/systems experience (boilers/steam &condensate, chillers & cooling towers/chilled water, compressors/compressed air oil-free, distillation units/pretreatment & purified water, etc.)
Associate's degree in electronics technology or equivalent
Strong knowledge of electrical, electronic, pneumatic, mechanical, and process control systems
Experience in using various software applications, including but not limited to, control systems, CMMS (Maximo), Microsoft Applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, Word, etc.), etc
