Manager, Accounting

AAR is a company seeking an Accounting Manager who will oversee the accounting department's day-to-day functions. This role involves ensuring compliance with GAAP and SOX requirements, maintaining accurate financial records, and mentoring accounting staff.

Responsibilities

Handling day-to-day accounting activities, including preparing and reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close, while ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP
Prepare and present financial statements, budgets, and forecasts to senior management, providing insights into financial performance and trends
Actively supporting internal and external audits and compliance efforts, preparing SOX documentation, and working through audit requests, while helping build, document, and improve accounting processes and internal controls
Mentor and supervise accounting staff, conducting performance evaluations and providing training to enhance team skills
Identifying and implementing process improvements and efficiencies
Act as the primary liaison for external auditors, coordinating the preparation of audit materials and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
Serving as a flexible, hands-on business partner, investigating and resolving variances, adapting quickly in a fast-paced environment, and working closely with operations and finance leadership to support business needs

Required

Bachelor's degree in accounting (required)
minimum of 5 years of accounting experience (preferably within a public company environment)
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SOX compliance requirements
Experience working in a fast-paced team environment with evolving processes and priorities
Ability to analyze financial data and identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, high level of accuracy and attention to detail

CPA or CPA-eligible preferred
