Senior Broadcast Engineer

Responsibilities

Perform daily verification and preparation of all broadcast production equipment; troubleshoot and log issues as needed, and report to management
Travel as assigned to any congressional district of the United States for the purpose of creating audiovisual productions of official Committee proceedings for live transmission and archive, while interfacing with various stakeholders, including public figures, in a collaborative manner with presupposed deference to the House of Representatives
Perform diagnostic testing as needed to identify technical characteristics of complex systems, encompassing broadcast, audiovisual, and network environments
Adapt IT workflows and leverage software solutions to improve efficiency of interconnected systems, including API configuration and implementation
Collaborate with House Information Resources (HIR) to administer licensing of software accounts associated with video teleconferencing and webinars
Serve as subject matter expert on HRS livestreaming, including knowledge of compression, file types, codecs, and protocols; as well as configuration and maintenance of all hardware and software components associated with HRS encoder systems
Serve as subject matter expert on multi-format audio and video routing systems, performing configuration, maintenance, operation, and documentation of all inputs and outputs, as well as interrelated hardware and software components

Required

Five years of professional broadcast engineering experience with progressive professional development that demonstrates competence in evolving technology
Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering or related discipline, or equivalent level of professional work experience
Knowledge of television, radio, AV, IP, structured cabling, and associated systems
Knowledge of Content Delivery Networks and Content Management Systems
Knowledge of studio facilities and standard television production operations
Knowledge of video teleconferencing and livestreaming
Knowledge of broadcast engineering and television industry standards
Knowledge of House parliamentary procedures encompassing both Committee and Floor
Knowledge of project management methodology
Skill in identifying, configuring, and implementing APIs

Preferred

Network, broadcast, and/or related industry certifications preferred
Broadcast operations experience in a live television environment preferred
