Responsibilities
Lead R&D team in developing and commercializing new bakery products (breads, pastries, cakes, etc.)
Optimize existing recipes for quality, cost, shelf-life, and production efficiency
Oversee plant trials, troubleshoot issues, and ensure smooth scale-up
Collaborate with operations, quality, procurement, and marketing teams
Build innovation pipeline by tracking trends, ingredients, and technologies
Manage R&D budgets, timelines, and projects to meet regulatory and business goals
Mentor and develop R&D staff
Conduct sensory evaluations and incorporate market feedback
Qualification
Required
7+ years of progressive R&D/product development experience in bakery or food manufacturing
Strong hands-on bakery formulation and process knowledge
Proven management experience leading teams and projects
Extensive food manufacturing experience, including trials, scale-up, and troubleshooting
Track record of successful product launches or improvements
Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
No degree required — practical experience prioritized
Occasional travel (up to 25%) for plant visits or events
Preferred
Knowledge of food safety (HACCP, FDA) and quality systems
Experience with cost reduction, clean-label, or ingredient substitutions
