Manager Software Engineer
General Motors is seeking an experienced eCommerce Software Engineering Manager to lead a team of engineers in building and scaling their commerce platforms. This role involves technical leadership, architecture design, and hands-on guidance to deliver secure, scalable, and high-performing solutions for global eCommerce initiatives.

Responsibilities
Lead and mentor a team of software engineers for end-to-end implementation of eCommerce solutions
Drive architecture and integration of new platforms (e.g., Shopify) using microservices and distributed systems
Oversee development best practices, code reviews, and API design across technologies like Java/J2EE, Spring Boot, REST APIs, React, and Next.js
Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and observability frameworks (e.g., Datadog)
Collaborate with product managers, designers, and architects to deliver seamless user experiences
Provide technical leadership in production support, root cause analysis, and incident resolution (SRE principles)
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
5+ years of managerial experience with eCommerce solutions
3+ full lifecycle implementations of eCommerce platforms
Strong software engineering background with hands-on coding experience
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and microservices using CI/CD
Hands-on experience with eCommerce integrations and observability tools
Preferred
Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
Experience with platforms like HCL Commerce, Shopify, IBM OMS Sterling, or Mirakl Marketplace
7+ years in front-end and back-end technologies (React, Next.js, Java/J2EE, Spring Boot)
Familiarity with automation tools (Playwright), AI-driven development, and DevOps tools (GitHub, Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins)
