Lead Electrical Engineer

Merrick & Company is a mid-sized, employee-owned consulting engineering firm seeking a full-time Lead/Senior Electrical Engineer for their Energy, Manufacturing & Bioprocessing department in Ellicott City, Maryland. This role involves serving as the project discipline lead, overseeing a team, developing electrical design documents, and interacting with clients while ensuring project schedules are met.

Responsibilities

Serve as project discipline lead and oversight of 2-4 employees
Develop electrical design documents and drawings
Analyze and approve the work of others. Monitor the work performed by the team
Conceptual and detailed design of low voltage power distribution, lighting, grounding, motor control systems, PLC/PAC, HMI’s process equipment and instrumentation
Interact with clients, customers, officials, contractors and others
Lead project meetings and make presentations
Perform typical electrical calculations including but not limited to voltage drop, short circuit, coordination studies, arch flash, relay settings, conduit fill, lighting, and grounding
Develop specifications and datasheets for electrical equipment including transformers, switchgear, MCCs
Travel to client project sites to support field walk downs and as-built efforts
Monitor allocated resources to ensure that the work performed is within project estimates
Works with Design/Engineering Managers to ensure that project schedule will be met, and complete documents are provided for each project

Required

Minimum of twelve (12) years of electrical engineering experience, preferably in power, energy, oil and gas or other industrial process industries
Experience developing one-line drawings, control schematics and wiring diagrams, electrical equipment specifications, power plans, conduit plans, cable schedules, etc
Working knowledge of technical Codes and Standards: NEC, IEEE, NFPA, IEC, etc
Proficient using Microsoft Office Excel & Word
Familiarity with AutoCAD, REVIT or other design software
Ability to work in the office 3+ days per week
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (A.B.E.T. accredited)
PE License required
Client projects for this position require US Citizenship
Must have a valid driver's license, a good driving record, and be insurable under Merrick's insurance carrier
