Responsibilities

Work with the enforcement team in the Business Affairs department to reduce copyright infringement of SMP’s catalog and obtain compensation for SMP’s songwriters. Tasks will include: Researching and documenting infringing uses on social media platforms and other internet sites Confirming relevant rights Working with SMP’s worldwide databases and with other departments to obtain relevant information
Update logging system/spreadsheets with notes and other info about termination notices, rights analysis covering different aspects of music publishing including US copyright law and how it impacts rights in copyrights
Assist with research for songwriter agreements and other documentation relating to publishing rights
Provide support to attorneys on various matters as necessary

Required

Currently enrolled in a college or university
Passionate about the music and entertainment business, and have a desire to build a career in the industry
Able to adapt quickly to a changing environment with minimal disruption
An excellent communicator and enthusiastic collaborator who works well with team members, external partners, and senior management
You are hungry to learn and grow. You are curious, ask questions and get excited about new projects
A highly organized person that pays close attention to the details
Proven Excel experience
Familiarity with and interest in social media platforms
Must be authorized to work in the United States
Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
7.5-hour business workday but variations in work volume frequently require extended working hours for evening and late-night events
