OB Technician | Obstetrics, Part-Time (3rd shift, Every other weekend)
Memorial Health Ohio is seeking an OB Technician to join their collaborative team. The role involves preparing for deliveries and surgical procedures, supporting licensed nurses in patient care, and maintaining a safe and clean environment for optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities
Sets up vaginal delivery tables; prepares supplies, instruments and equipment for deliveries and surgical procedures; opens sterile supplies, sets up the operating room (OR) for cesarean sections and performs scrub duties; labels and prepares specimens for pathology
Supports the licensed nurses by assuming responsibility for direct and indirect patient care, such as assisting with activities of daily living, personal care, comfort measures, and maintenance of a safe and clean environment, in an effort to provide optimum patient outcome and efficiencies to flow; charges supplies accurately
Collects patient data such as vital signs, weights, input and output, and pain score then identifies and reports significant findings to the licensed nurse; documents findings and care within established timeframes; assists patients with calling for transportation as needed; monitors the overall appearance of the lobbies and entrances; assists and directs patients regarding the registration process and hospital procedures
Communicates professionally and appropriately at all times with staff, patients, and visitors; maintains accurate employee records; demonstrates the concept of teamwork; serves as primary resource for patients and guests by greeting, instructing and directing patients in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner; serves as a liaison between patients, staff and other departments; demonstrates being proactive and solution focused; sets example of customer service for all employees to emulate; provides wheelchair assistance as needed; responds to inquiries and directs parties to appropriate authority
Responds to emergencies outside normal working hours (i.e. internal and external disasters); may work rotating shifts, required to work weekend and holiday shifts as scheduled or assigned

Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance
Attends all mandatory education and in-services (i.e., team training, safety, infection control, etc.); completes mandatory health requirements
Employee performs within the prescribed limits of the hospital’s and department’s Ethics and Compliance program and is responsible to detect, observe and report compliance variances to their immediate supervisor, or upward through the chain of command, the Compliance Officer, or the hospital hotline
Performs other duties as required or assigned
Qualification
Required
Completion of high school education supplemented with coursework or experience, which evidences basic knowledge of patient care techniques (i.e. currently enrolled in nursing or other related medical field and/or proven competency based qualifications of Patient Care Technician II.)
Strong clinical knowledge of OR environment
Obtain American Heart Association BLS certification within 30 days of hire and maintains continuous certification; obtain Behavioral Health & De-Escalation training (BHDT) within six (6) months of employment and maintains annual certification
Preferred
Surgical Technician or OB Technician experience preferred; Medical Assistant and STNA experience may be considered
Surgical Technologist certification is preferred
