People Operations & Talent Leader
Onward is transforming wellbeing through their Companion rideshare services and transportation management platform. They are seeking a People Operations & Talent Leader to build the people foundations necessary for scaling the team, focusing on full-cycle recruiting, onboarding, and performance management.

Responsibilities
Own full-cycle recruiting for leadership, product, engineering, operations, GTM, and G&A roles
Build top-of-funnel talent pipelines and run structured, equitable interview processes
Partner with hiring managers on scorecards, interview loops, compensation ranges, and closing strategies
Maintain applicant tracking hygiene, talent metrics, and weekly hiring dashboards (time-to-fill, funnel conversion, source quality)
Design and run a delightful Day 0–90 onboarding: pre-boarding, IT/HRIS setup, role ramp plans, training programs
Coordinate new-hire docs, I-9/E-Verify, benefits enrollment, and compliance training
Launch pulse surveys and feedback loops to continuously improve ramp and engagement
Own the Employee Handbook and HR policy updates (multi-state compliance, leave/ADA coordination, handbook addenda)
Maintain clean employee records and HRIS data; support benefits administration and annual open enrollment
Support employee relations with a pragmatic, people-first approach; escalate appropriately
Build performance systems including competencies, performance review processes, coaching and performance improvement plan programs, and manager enablement
Lead the annual and mid-year performance & compensation cycles; facilitate MBO goal-setting and calibration
Train managers on feedback, growth conversations, and leveling guidelines
Track org health KPIs (retention, eNPS, internal mobility) and share insights with leadership
Partner on market benchmarking, job architectures, and leveling
Coordinate culture & recognition programs, offsites, and manager enablement
Manage People vendors (benefits, background checks, HR tech) and optimize cost/value
Qualification
Required
4–6+ years in People/HR with full-cycle recruiting experience for technical and leadership roles at a high-growth company
Hands-on with recruiting tools (e.g., LinkedIn Recruiter) and HRIS (e.g., Rippling); strong systems hygiene
Experience running onboarding, leveling frameworks, competency development, performance/comp cycles, and policy/handbook updates across multiple states
Clear, empathetic communicator who can coach and train managers, protect confidentiality, and navigate nuance
Data-curious: you use metrics to improve funnels, ramp time, retention, and engagement
Bias to action, comfortable building 0→1 processes and iterating quickly
Preferred
Healthcare or regulated industry experience (HIPAA awareness, PHI handling basics)
DEI recruiting initiatives and structured interviewing certification
Basic comp analysis (range setting, offers, internal equity reviews)
