Responsibilities
Lead the end-to-end technical architecture for ServiceNow ITOM and CMDB implementations
Design and govern:
ServiceNow Discovery (horizontal, cloud, and application discovery)
CMDB data models aligned with CSDM
Service Mapping strategies for business and technical services
Define best practices for:
Identification and reconciliation
CI lifecycle management
Data normalization and enrichment
Ensure CMDB integrity as a single source of truth for enterprise services and infrastructure
Architect and oversee CMDB-related integrations, including:
Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
Virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V)
Network, storage, and monitoring tools
Security and vulnerability scanning tools
Define integration patterns using:
IntegrationHub
REST/SOAP APIs
MID Server architecture and security zones
Ensure data quality, governance, and performance across all inbound and outbound integrations
Act as the primary technical authority for ITOM, Discovery, and CMDB decisions
Lead and mentor ServiceNow developers and technical resources by:
Providing architectural direction
Reviewing scripts, discovery patterns, and integrations
Enforcing coding, performance, and upgrade-safe standards
Resolve complex discovery failures, reconciliation conflicts, and performance issues
Partner with Project Managers and Engagement Leads to ensure technical delivery aligns with scope and timelines
Lead high-risk technical phases including:
Discovery design and proof-of-concept
Pattern customization and extension
Large-scale data onboarding and validation
Production cutover and stabilization
Proactively identify technical risks and recommend mitigation strategies
Serve as ServiceNow Product Owner when required by:
Translating infrastructure and operations requirements into technical user stories
Prioritizing backlog items related to discovery coverage, data quality, and service mapping
Leading technical backlog grooming and refinement sessions
Collaborate with infrastructure, operations, security, and architecture teams
Communicate technical trade-offs, constraints, and recommendations clearly to stakeholders
Qualification
Required
7+ years of ServiceNow implementation experience
Proven track record delivering enterprise-scale ITOM, Discovery, and CMDB implementations
Experience supporting environments with thousands of CIs and complex infrastructure landscapes
ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) – REQUIRED
Deep expertise in ServiceNow ITOM modules (Discovery, Service Mapping, Event Management)
CMDB architecture and CSDM
Identification and Reconciliation Engine (IRE)
Strong hands-on experience with MID Server architecture and security design
Discovery patterns, probes, sensors, and credentials
CMDB health dashboards and data certification
Solid understanding of infrastructure technologies (Linux, Windows, networking, cloud platforms)
Monitoring and management tools integrations
Strong technical decision-maker able to lead through complexity
Ability to balance speed of delivery with long-term CMDB sustainability
Excellent communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences
Proven ability to mentor developers and elevate technical quality
Comfortable operating as both architect and hands-on problem solver
Preferred
Experience in regulated, public sector, or large enterprise environments preferred
ServiceNow CIS – ITOM – PREFERRED
ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist – Discovery or Service Mapping – Strongly Preferred or similar
ServiceNow Certified Technical Architect (CTA) – Nice to have
ITIL or Infrastructure certifications – Nice to have
