NYS Office of Information Technology Services is seeking an Information Technology Specialist 2 Programming to support Tax in Albany. The role involves database object design, creation, and maintenance, along with analysis, development, and testing of agency database systems.

Responsibilities
Completing and Reviewing detailed database design specifications and diagrams for system implementations, integrations, and enhancements
Communicating technical issues and information effectively, both verbally and in writing, with functional and technical staff to gather technical requirements
Working with Application Development teams to implement effective data structures to meet program and customer needs while adhering to department standards
Performance tuning , which includes monitoring databases with Data Management Console, and creating optimized data warehouse structures for reliable reporting
Collaborating effectively within a team environment, as well as members of other teams as necessary
Facilitating and participating in meetings with ITS and DTF customers
Qualification
Required
A bachelor's or higher-level degree including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science
A bachelor's or higher-level degree in any field and one year of experience in information technology
60 semester credit hours including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science and one year of professional experience in information technology
Two years of professional experience in information technology
Open to NYS employees with one year of permanent competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 1, Salary Grade (SG) 14
Open to NYS employees with one year of permanent competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 2 or Information Technology Specialist 2 Programming, G-18; OR in a title G-16 or above deemed administrative under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law
This position is eligible for 55b/c designation and candidates are encouraged to apply
Appointment to this position and continued employment with the agency is contingent upon obtaining and/or maintaining New York State residency within six months of hiring
Appointment to this position is not final until all agency approvals have been granted
ITS will not offer permanent employment to any candidate unless the candidate provides documentation that they are authorized to accept work in the United States on a permanent basis
Some positions may require fingerprinting
Some positions may require up to 25% travel and/or lifting up to 50 lbs
