Legal Assistant/ Paralegal / Family Law Experience Required
Young Berman Karpf & Karpf, P.A. is searching for a skilled and experienced Family Law Legal Assistant / Paralegal to support attorneys in delivering exceptional service to clients. The ideal candidate will provide administrative and case management support to multiple attorneys, exercise effective communication skills, and manage a high-volume caseload in a fast-paced legal environment.

Responsibilities
Open, maintain, and close client files with accuracy in accordance with firm policies
Calendar, track and manage frequent deadlines, court hearings, and statutory timelines
Maintain and organize physical and electronic case files in NetDocuments (training provided)
Schedule and maintain court dates, mediation, depositions, and attorney-client appointments
Perform billing entry and timekeeping for attorney review
Review incoming and outgoing mail, email correspondence with accuracy
Prepare and draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests/responses, declarations, subpoenas, stipulations, and settlement agreements
File legal documents with courts electronically
Assist in trial preparation, including assembling trial binders, witness lists, and exhibits
Communicate with clients regarding case updates, documentation, and appointments
Assist clients in completing the required legal forms, such as mandatory disclosures, financial affidavits, declarations of income and expenses
Proofread and/or finalize legal documents including, Petitions, responses, declarations, discovery, disclosures, and pre-trial statements, as well as Marital settlement agreements, custody and visitation agreements, and restraining orders
Prepare and respond to discovery requests (financial affidavits, form interrogatories, special interrogatories, document requests, etc.)
File documents with court systems (electronic and in-person filings), ensuring compliance with jurisdictional rules and deadlines
Research court rules and local procedures as needed for attorney review
Investigate and summarize facts related to asset discovery, child support calculations, and case timelines
Organize and manage case files, discovery binders, and exhibits
Prepare trial notebooks, witness lists, and timelines, coordinate with expert witnesses if necessary
Attend court hearings and trials with attorneys as needed to provide support
Track case deadlines, hearing dates, and filing deadlines using case management software
Record billable time accurately for paralegal work and ensure billing compliance
Qualification
Required
Skilled and experienced Family Law Legal Assistant / Paralegal
Provide administrative and case management support to multiple attorneys

Preferred
Associate or bachelor's degree or certificate in legal studies, paralegal studies, or experience
Min of 4 years of experience as a legal assistant or paralegal, preferably in a family law setting
Proficiency with legal software (e.g., Clio, NetDocuments, etc.) and MS Office Suite
Knowledge of local family court rules and procedures
Strong diligence, organizational, and time management skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Certification as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal (CLA, CP, or equivalent)
Bilingual (Spanish), depending on firm/client demographics
