Responsibilities
Lead the design of bridges and retaining walls for major transportation projects (rail, highway, local agencies)
Manage and deliver projects from concept through final design, ensuring technical quality and on-time delivery
Mentor junior engineers, review calculations, and support design staff development
Interface directly with agencies and consultants including Caltrans, LA Metro, and high-speed rail teams
Play a key role in developing customized workflows and automation tools using Grasshopper, SOFiSTiK, Rhino, and other structural modeling platforms
Collaborate closely with project managers, CAD teams, and software specialists to optimize delivery
Qualification
Required
B.S. in Civil or Structural Engineering (M.S. preferred)
PE license in California required (SE preferred)
7-15 years of bridge/structural design experience
Experience with Caltrans standards and local agency design practices
Proficiency with structural analysis tools (SOFiSTiK, SAP2000, MidasCivil, etc.)
Familiarity or interest in parametric design (Grasshopper, Rhino, Dynamo, Tekla etc.)
