Responsibilities
Direct and manage the Applications team, including hiring, mentoring, and performance evaluations
Develop staff education and training programs for onboarding and ongoing professional development
Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
Lead the planning, development, and maintenance of all clinical and operational applications
Implement enterprise application projects using established project management methodologies
Oversee application lifecycle management, including upgrades, patches, and end-of-life planning
Ensure robust change control and quality assurance processes
Advance interoperability initiatives internally and externally, ensuring alignment with healthcare standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR)
Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including meaningful use and quality measurement standards
Partner with internal stakeholders and external vendors to meet evolving interoperability requirements
Serve as the primary liaison between the organization and third-party application vendors
Negotiate contracts, manage vendor performance, and ensure timely delivery of solutions
Collaborate with clinical leadership, IT teams, and other departments to align technology with organizational goals
Partner with clinicians to optimize EHR workflows and enhance end-user experience
Support data analytics initiatives to improve clinical and operational decision-making
Lead presentations and discussions with committees and workgroups on application strategy
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Healthcare Management, Clinical Informatics, or related field
5+ years in application management within healthcare settings
Familiarity with EHR systems, interoperability standards, and healthcare regulations
Experience managing staff and vendors in a complex healthcare environment
Strong written and verbal skills; ability to communicate vision and priorities effectively
Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects and meet deadlines
Analytical skills focused on quality, cost containment, and operational impact
Commitment to exceeding user expectations and improving service delivery
Ability to mentor and develop technical and leadership skills within the team
Strong project management and organizational skills
Proficiency in MS Office and project management tools
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
