Responsibilities
Engage directly with clients to gather requirements, present technical solutions, and provide regular project updates; ensure alignment of deliverables with client expectations
Mentor junior designers & support team development through knowledge sharing and quality review
Apply the client’s standards, guidelines, specifications, practices, and procedures and/or appropriate industry standards in preparing layouts of overhead and/or underground electric distribution facilities
Prepare manual or computer assisted design and construction drawings of a complex nature, cost estimates and bill of materials and any other required documents and reports for construction and maintenance projects
Assist in the performance of load studies on distribution circuits and transformers; investigate circuit reliability and voltage issues to determine necessary corrective action
Prepare and submit required reports and correspondence
Utilize client and Company information systems to track and update design activities
Acquire field data necessary to prepare the appropriate design
Ability to handle contacts with clients and other agencies in connection with project design responsibilities
Field verification of equipment and marking/staking new facilities
Other job-related duties as assigned
Independent research and adapt to changing priorities
Work in a collaborative team environment and deliver accurate work product
Adhere to CobbFendley’s safety standards to uphold a safe and efficient environment
Maintain a professional attitude and fulfill responsibilities with integrity
Qualification
Required
Minimum of seven years of experience in the design, operation, or maintenance of overhead and underground distribution lines (4 kV through 35 kV). Prior utility design experience or distribution line work would be highly preferred
Possess an in-depth knowledge of overhead and underground electric distribution systems, subdivisions, industrial complexes, data centers and dual power feeds
Associate degree in electrical technology or related field from an accredited college or university. Other education and work experience may be considered acceptable for this position
Must possess experience in creating construction drawings for electric distribution design
Assist in guiding and mentoring Electric Distribution Designers
Provide expertise and support to large scale projects by managing budget, delegating task, coordinating with contractors, and project close out
Knowledge of permits which are required for electric distribution installations
Shall have a working knowledge of the practices and procedures pertaining to technical matters in one or more of the following areas: Utility Electrical
Engineering and electric utility construction knowledge of GIS and AutoCAD
Experience in GDT or ArcFM is a plus
