Herr Foods Inc. is the largest privately owned salty snack food manufacturer and distributor in the country, based in Nottingham, PA. They are currently seeking a qualified individual for the Senior Cost Accountant position, responsible for compiling and analyzing financial information, overseeing accounting processes, and supervising a team of accounting professionals.

Responsibilities

Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions

Perform and direct key aspects of the monthly accounting close process

Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital, and prepares balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected company financial position

Oversee the general ledger, AR, and payables ledgers within the accounting system

Prepare, review, and analyze financial results to ensure accuracy and completeness

Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports

Prepare account reconciliations

Supervise a team of 2-4 direct reports in general accounting functions

Collaborate with peers in support of the overall finance and accounting team

Develop staff by managing performance, setting goals, providing ongoing training, and building strong employee relationships

Assess current practices and procedures and make recommendations for improvements

Perform ad hoc analysis and other projects as requested

Support quarterly and year-end financial audit activities

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or related degree

5-7 years of accounting or finance related experience

General understanding of U.S. GAAP

Strong verbal and written communication abilities necessary to perform the responsibilities of the role

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

Experience with other financial systems
