Product Development Coordinator / Design Assistant (Temporary)
Avalon Apparel is seeking a Product Development Coordinator / Design Assistant to support both Product Development and Design teams throughout the development lifecycle. This hybrid role involves executing samples, maintaining product data, and assisting with visual and presentation needs across multiple brands and store accounts.
Responsibilities
Assist with product development execution from concept through production handoff
Create, update, and maintain tech packs for domestic and overseas development
Build, upload, and maintain complete Bills of Materials (BOMs) in Centric (fabrics, trims, send-outs, pattern cards, etc.)
Assign and manage style numbers as needed
Upload and organize all photos, CADs, and development documentation
Compile pre-costing information and assist with costing and pre-production handoff
Support overseas development follow-up through sample completion
Assist in passing styles for costing based on departmental needs
Ensure execution and readiness of all samples for line reviews, sales meetings, and market
Coordinate all send-outs, including writing POs, creating shipping labels, boxing samples, and vendor follow-up
Manage fabric library, fabric inventory, and fabric counter sourcing for development and costing
Maintain line sheets, fabric books, and cutting ticket books
Prep and send swatch projects to customers
Support Designers with sample execution, line organization, and development follow-up
Assist with concept boards, Canva projects, and visual line presentations
Coordinate CAD/3D requests and ensure accurate information flow between teams
Assist with hanger and mannequin photography and tagging of the line
Help compile and organize presentation materials for market and internal reviews
Work closely with Designers, Product Development, CAD/3D artists, Pattern Makers, Sales, and vendors
Communicate development status, follow-ups, and issues to the appropriate teams
Assist with special projects as assigned
Maintain a high level of organization, accuracy, and follow-through
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by management or cross-functional partners
Qualification
Required
3–5 years of experience in apparel product development, design support, or related roles
Strong understanding of tech packs, BOMs, and apparel development workflows
Knowledge of fabrics, trims, and garment construction
Experience working with PLM systems
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook; Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop and CAD systems a plus
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated
Strong communication skills with a sense of urgency and follow-through
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work under tight deadlines and shifting priorities
Preferred
Centric experience strongly preferred
Spark / A2000 experience a plus
Degree in Fashion Design or equivalent experience preferred
Sketching skills are a plus but not required
