Responsibilities

Perform administrative and supervisory functions in the field of engineering
Supervise professional and technical staff that provide support for engineering related functions
Achieve program objectives by interpreting and applying policy within its programmatic area
Directly supervise a staff of professional engineering and technical positions
Coordinate staff and resources to meet program objectives
Provide training and developmental opportunities to staff
Apply technical expertise in decision-making
Develop and implement policy
Perform professional engineering work
Apply professional engineering expertise in decision-making
Prioritize, assign, and monitor work to meet project requirements and deadlines
Communicate effectively with internal and external partners, other agencies, consultants, and contractors
Review, analyze, and approve engineering reports, documents, and plans

Required

A valid Professional Engineering registration and be able to obtain a Wisconsin PE registration within 3 months if the PE registration is from another state
Experience in transportation program or project management
Experience may include: Overseeing transportation projects or programs in design/construction including delivery of plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E); interpreting and applying technical information in transportation policies included in the Facilities Development Manual (FDM), Highway Maintenance Manual (HMM), Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), or similar; managing project or program progress tracking/reporting; negotiating and/or administering consultant contracts; developing and tracking project or program budgets; etc
