Stress Analyst, Staff

The Staff Stress Analyst will perform detailed stress analysis of missile flight structures and mechanisms, providing technical mentorship and overseeing analyses to support the development of compliant flightworthy components.

Responsibilities
Perform static stress analysis on missile and spacecraft flight hardware
Generate stress analysis technical memorandums and reports to support data packages, peer reviews, and external customer reviews
Prepare technical charts and represent the organization in design reviews and outside contracts
Support static structural test definition, requirements, monitoring, data reduction, and comparison to analysis while understanding and incorporating other applicable mechanical (thermal, dynamic, materials, etc…) and system level requirements/parameters into the stress analyses
Support development of weight-optimized, compliant flightworthy components and structural assemblies which satisfy the contractual design criteria as well as any producibility requirements defined by Manufacturing and Quality Engineering
Qualification
Required
Experience with NX/NASTRAN finite element modeling or equivalent
Technical leadership experience
Ability to communicate highly technical content to any level of audience
Ability to apply new and advanced analytical techniques necessary to perform structural analysis
Knowledge of structural characteristics and the ability to generate free body diagrams detailing load paths through complex systems
Knowledge of and applicable experience with spacecraft or aircraft structural analysis methods, including classical hand calculations and experience with mechanical joints
Security Clearance: Secret
Preferred
A Master's degree is strongly preferred for this position
Ability to work in a collaborative and highly integrated team environment
Ability and desire to assume ownership of tasks and drive to closure quickly and efficiently
Non-linear, fracture, fatigue, and buckling analysis experience
Mechanisms, antenna, electronic component, ground support, hoisting, and test support equipment, and composite materials analysis experience
Experience with Abaqus, Matlab, Mathcad and CREO
Static, vibration, acoustic, modal, shock test experience of aerospace flight hardware
Academic coursework in advanced mechanics of materials
