Start in 2026 SummerFenner Precision Polymers is offering an internship opportunity with their New Product Textile Engineering Team. The intern will be responsible for conducting lab testing on technical textiles, collaborating with various departments, and engaging in R&D projects related to new product development.
3D PrintingMachinery ManufacturingPersonalization
Responsibilities
Conduct lab testing on technical textiles according to product development needs
3D model new fixtures or product models to enhance product understanding
Learn components and processes of rapier looms
Updating specs to new format
Product validation – mechanical properties like tensile, tear, EPI, PPI, weight, etc
3D modeling of weave patterns
R&D projects
Alternative fabrics – quartz, MWPE, etc. – applications, testing
Qualification
Required
Demonstrated ability to 3D model in Solidworks
Record and interpret measured properties of lab tests
Proven skills in mechanical engineering principles – stress, strain, coefficient of friction, etc
Statistical analysis of test results
Working knowledge of basic lab equipment and software – MTS, hot presses, Microsoft package, etc
Novel problem solving
A minimum of 2 years of college in a related field
