Manager, DC Inventory Optimization & Capacity Strategy

Responsibilities
Lead future spatial planning for the DC based on projected business growth, including new product lines, category expansion, and throughput changes
Build multi-year capacity models that anticipate storage needs, SKU proliferation, and evolving handling requirements
Assess storage, flow, and slotting needs across diverse and expanding business categories (jewelry, lifestyle, hard goods, etc.)
Identify risks related to space constraints and create proactive mitigation plans
Conduct continuous pick-path assessments, identifying opportunities to reduce travel time and improve productivity
Use heat mapping and velocity analysis to optimize slotting locations, storage methods, and replenishment flow
Develop data-driven recommendations for DC layout changes that support higher accuracy and efficiency
Drive technology continuous improvement to support DC accuracy, throughput, and error reduction goals, including but not limited to: RFID, inventory scanning enhancements, automation opportunities, digital inventory tools, and WMS optimization
Champion technology advancements and serve as a subject-matter expert on DC systems
Own the DC strategy for product flow and aged inventory, identifying risks and partnering cross-functionally to propose solutions
Maintain visibility to impacts of category growth and large-dimensional items and communicate risks to key cross-functional partners
Manage all ad hoc project planning and requests, including but not limited to reticketing, price changes, special projects, quality checks, and product rework/labeling
Manage the DC post-production Assembly team, evaluating requests for jewelry assembly, planning labor, and partnering cross-functionally to ensure strategic quotas are met
Lead and develop a team of Inventory Control associates, specialists, leads, and analysts ranging from 10-30 depending on seasonality and workload
Lead annual labor planning for the IC function, including workload forecasting for launches, seasonal spikes, and growth, assessing future team structure needs as new categories and storage methods emerge
Deliver inventory accuracy within the DC, hitting KPI targets for accuracy, shrink, and variance, investigating discrepancies with urgency and providing root-cause analysis
Plan and oversee physical inventory and cycle count frequency and accuracy goals
Manage ongoing inventory audits, including shipment audits, returns validation, and replenishment accuracy checks
Lead research and error resolution across WMS transactions and physical inventory
Qualification
Required
Expertise in warehouse space planning, slotting strategy, and capacity modeling
Ability to leverage data tools for heat mapping, velocity analysis, and pick-path redesign
Strong grasp of inventory control best practices
Experience with technology-enabled inventory processes (RFID, advanced scanning, WMS enhancements)
Strong analytical skills with ability to forecast future needs and create scalable solutions
Ability to communicate complex data and long-term implications to leaders
Proficiency in ERP, WMS, Excel, and data visualization tools
Strong leadership ability with experience developing teams
Growth mindset with ability to lead through change and uncertainty
Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience
5+ years of inventory, warehouse optimization, or distribution center leadership experience
Proven experience in DC capacity planning, slotting, or industrial engineering
Demonstrated success planning and supporting product line expansion or SKU growth
Experience leading medium-to-large operational teams
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
