HR & Compliance Manager (Insurance & Litigation Experience Required)

Confidential company is seeking an experienced HR & Compliance Manager to oversee human resources, regulatory compliance, insurance coordination, and litigation support. This role is critical to ensuring legal compliance, risk mitigation, and effective employee relations.

Responsibilities

Oversee hiring, onboarding, employee relations, and performance management
Develop and maintain HR policies, employee handbook, and procedures
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws
Manage disciplinary actions, terminations, and internal investigations
Ensure compliance with employment laws, workplace safety standards, and industry regulations
Monitor regulatory changes and implement required updates
Maintain compliance documentation and audit readiness
Manage business insurance policies (general liability, workers’ comp, auto, professional liability, etc.)
Coordinate with insurance brokers, carriers, and vendors
Handle certificates of insurance (COIs) and policy renewals
Assist with insurance claims, documentation, and loss mitigation
Serve as liaison between the company and legal counsel
Assist with employment-related claims, disputes, and litigation matters
Manage subpoenas, document production, and legal records
Support risk assessment and dispute resolution efforts

Required

Proven experience in Human Resources and Compliance
Hands-on experience with insurance policies and claims
Experience supporting or managing litigation or legal matters
Strong knowledge of employment law and regulatory compliance
Excellent documentation, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information

Preferred

HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP)
Experience in the Fire Industry is a plus
Familiarity with California employment and business regulations
Experience working with small to mid-sized businesses
