NEOGOV is seeking a Community Engagement Intern to work collaboratively with the Community Engagement team in Harris County. The successful candidate will assist in implementing strategic goals for engaging and empowering the community, as well as represent Precinct 4 at community meetings and events.

Responsibilities

Attend and represent Precinct 4 at community meetings and events
Assist in planning and executing Community Engagement events
Assist the Community Engagement team in building and cultivating relationships with community members and organizations
Clearly and consistently communicate community needs to Community Engagement Leadership through weekly reports; memos as requested
Assist with disaster relief efforts, as needed

Microsoft software proficiencyCommunity outreach experienceBilingual fluencyMeet deadlinesCommunication skillsTime management skills

Required

Students working toward an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited four-year college or university
Minimum GPA of 3.0
Proficiency in Microsoft software applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Share Point
The ideal candidate must be committed to advancing opportunity and justice for all Harris County residents
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong time management skills
Ability to meet goals and reporting requirements on a weekly basis under strict deadlines
Availability to work evenings and weekends
Valid Texas driver's license with a good driving record

Preferred

Bilingual fluency in another language
Experience in community outreach, grassroots organizing, or event coordination
