Responsibilities

Work with Project HEAL and the Center for Health Access as the Director of Data Science, Machine Learning and AI

Be responsible for the research, design, development, and maintenance of advanced software systems that contribute to clinical research and quality improvement projects by leveraging statistical methods, machine learning algorithms, and data visualization techniques

Collaborate closely with principal investigators, clinicians and researchers to translate data insights into actionable strategies for better decision-making within the emergency department, particularly as it relates to social emergency medicine initiatives

Required

Current University of Illinois employee

Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field of study

5 years of experience in database/software development and 3 years of experience in health-related research

Proficiency with applications such as REDCap (particularly use of APIs), Tableau, SQL, Python, and SPSS/SAS/or R

Advanced knowledge of machine learning and AI systems and development

Preferred

Master's degree in data science, machine learning and AI or a related field involving research methodology and statistical analysis

Advanced knowledge of research principles, concepts, practices and methods

Experience with REDCap advanced logic and data piping and experience working with the UIC Advanced Cyberinfrastructure for Education and Research (ACER) and cloud-based systems utilized by UIC, such as Azure SCE

Training and in-depth knowledge of UIC IRB and UI Health data regulations and policies and familiarity with University of Illinois system machine learning and AI governance

Prior data management experience in NIH/PCORI funded health studies preferred
