Responsibilities
Lead and mentor a packaging engineer, supporting development, performance, and collaboration
Own packaging projects from ideation through launch
Design and improve primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging solutions
Lead line trials, validation testing, and performance evaluations
Optimize materials based on durability, sustainability, and cost
Partner cross-functionally with engineering, operations, innovation, sustainability, marketing, regulatory, and project management teams
Ensure packaging integrity through manufacturing, distribution, storage, and end use
Collaborate with purchasing and production to determine feasibility and cost
Build strong relationships with packaging suppliers and stay current on industry advancements
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Packaging Science, or related field
6–10+ years of packaging engineering experience
Strong knowledge of packaging materials including plastics, films, PET, corrugated, and paper
Experience with packaging design, performance testing, and specification development
Familiarity with TOPS or similar palletization / load optimization software
Proficiency in CAD tools and Microsoft Office
Demonstrated leadership and project management experience
Strong collaboration, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Preferred
CAPES certification is a plus
