Wish Coordinator

Make-A-Wish Michigan is dedicated to transforming lives by creating life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. The Wish Coordinator will manage a caseload of wishes, guiding families through the wish process and ensuring every detail is handled with care and compassion.

Non-profit Organization Management

Responsibilities

Manage, plan, and execute a caseload of 60–80 wishes annually
Guide wish families with compassion, ensuring all wishes are safe, timely, and magical
Handle all required wish documentation, enter and maintain accurate data in Salesforce, and ensure compliance with national standards and liability requirements
Coordinate all aspects of each wish—including transportation, accommodations, services, medical needs, volunteers, and itineraries
Build and maintain strong relationships with wish families, healthcare providers, volunteers, and donors
Secure in-kind donations to maximize impact and offset costs while responsibly managing budgets for each wish
Use crisis communication and reflective listening to support families navigating sensitive circumstances
Represent Make-A-Wish Michigan at events, serving as a liaison and support to wish families in attendance
Lead and contribute to special projects that enhance the wish experience

Required

Bachelor's degree (preferably in Social Work, Human Services, or related field)
Strong commitment to and passion for the mission of Make-A-Wish
Exceptional customer service skills, with a compassionate and empathetic approach
Highly professional demeanor; ability to work with diverse constituents including donors, vendors, volunteers, and families
Excellent organizational and time-management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Salesforce or other CRM/databases strongly preferred
Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate integrity at all times

Preferred

Case management experience, especially in social work, healthcare, or nonprofit settings
Experience working with children or families in crisis or high-stress situations
Fluency in Spanish (speaking, reading, and writing) to better serve diverse families
Prior experience in volunteer coordination, donor engagement, or community partnerships
