Financial Clearance Coordinator

Responsibilities
The Financial Clearance Coordinator will collaborate with the Patient Access Team to ensure complete and accurate information is provided for the pre-cert process, and is required to contact the patient or their representative to obtain any information not received at the time of registration
They will be responsible for collecting pre-service deposits and payments, or establishing payment plans
Screening for eligibility of 3rd party coverage including hospital Financial Assistance programs
Assists patient’s with completing and filing applications in addition to providing support for documentation retrieval and submission as needed
Completes all required follow-up activities, including, but not limited to County, State, Federal agencies to ensure cases are completed accurately and timely
In addition to the tasks outlined in this summary, the position also requires coordination of appeals, manage assigned inventories in Epic, process Maryland Medicaid newborn enrollment, oversight of 3rd party Medicaid vendor, audit of financial assistance programs and participation in safety programs
Qualification
Required
Must possess a high school diploma or GED
State of Maryland Application Counselor Certification required, or obtain certification within six months of employment
Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel
Microsoft Outlook
Epic
Performance Manager/NetLearning
Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize one or more of the following
Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner
Must be able to work independently and possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and deal tactfully with other personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, customers, and the general public
Must be flexible, have personal integrity, and the ability to function effectively as a team with other employees
Must be able to follow written and oral instructions
Routine clerical tasks, copiers, scanners etc
Must be able to accurately type 40 words per minute
Preferred
1 year of healthcare advocacy experience
1 year of healthcare registration and billing experience
