The Richmond LGBTQ Chamber is dedicated to supporting Virginia’s LGBTQ+ youth. The Volunteer & Outreach Coordinator will recruit, train, and manage volunteers while coordinating outreach efforts and assisting with youth support groups.

Responsibilities

Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers including adult facilitators, center volunteers, outreach volunteers, and special event volunteers for Side by Side in Richmond and Charlottesville
Develop and deliver on-going training and technical assistance for volunteers
Regularly communicate with volunteers and celebrate the contributions of volunteers
Coordinate outreach events including tabling at school fairs, non-profit organizations, festivals, etc
Cultivate relationships with partner organizations throughout Virginia
Develop and facilitate training for schools, non-profits, and corporations on how to best support the LGBTQ+ community across the entire state of Virginia
Serve as a back-up for facilitating youth support groups
Assist the Associate Director with development related outreach activities
Other duties as assigned

Required

Knowledge of LGBTQ+ youth issues, high sense of responsibility, and commitment to the mission of Side by Side and working directly with LGBTQ+ youth
A commitment to racial equity and demonstrated experience working with communities of color and specifically LGBTQ+ youth of color
A Bachelor's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, education, or a related field OR commensurate relevant experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong organizational, detail, and interpersonal skills
Experience in community outreach and working with large groups of volunteers and volunteer management
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, email and internet applications, spreadsheets, and social media
Ability to work as a member of a team, but also be a self-starter
Ability to work under pressure and complete multiple tasks simultaneously

Preferred

Master's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, education, or a related field
People of color and those who identify within the trans community are encouraged to apply
