DOLA Program Support Accountant (Accountant I)
The Colorado Department of Revenue is dedicated to strengthening local communities in Colorado through various financial and technical support services. The DOLA Program Support Accountant will perform financial and accounting functions related to state and federal funds, ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations while providing timely financial services to divisions and programs.
Government Administration
Responsibilities
Maintains and reconciles financial records of assigned grants or programs
Monitors expenditures
Reconciles encumbrance records
Performs analysis of grant activity and researches and adjusts differences as necessary
Provides various types of reports and information to various customers
Takes part in fiscal year-end closing activities, including managing accruals, budget and grants reconciliation and management, over-expenditure determinations, and disposition of various items on diagnostic reports through the posting of adjusting entries as needed
Qualification
Required
Four (4) years of accounting experience. Accounting experience involves the design, structure, and maintenance/update of the accounting system used by a unit and requires the application of accounting theories, generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), and standards (Governmental Accounting Standards Board)
A combination of related education that includes 27 semester hours completed in accounting or auditing AND experience as described above equal to four (4) years
Current, valid licensure as a CPA by the Colorado Board of Accountancy will substitute for four (4) years of education
Strong accounting knowledge

Effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to prioritize and organize work to accommodate and meet the changing needs of the Department and meet deadlines
Proficiency with MS Office suite, specifically MS Excel
Ability to work independently
Excellent mathematical skills
Preferred
Experience as a State of Colorado permanent employee working in the Colorado Operation Reporting Engine (CORE) database
Experience working in CORE (Colorado Operations Resource Engine) and utilizing infoAdvantage Financial Reporting
Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, regulations, and federal laws
Experience working with grant payments and administration
General knowledge of contracting principles
