Senior Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Research Scientist
Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is a U.S. Department of Energy national laboratory dedicated to addressing the nation’s pressing challenges. They are seeking a Senior Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Research Scientist to support the Cyber Resilience and Intelligence Division, focusing on developing methods to detect and mitigate adversarial attacks on critical infrastructure.

Responsibilities
Provide technical insights for program and project developments
Lead teams to define and implement sponsor requirements
Interact with sponsors and funding agencies from project conception, proposal writing, and project execution
Mentor early career staff through both formal project, task, and technical leadership
Perform research & development at levels ranging from proof-of-concept development to software / system architecture

Qualification
Required
A Ph.D. in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field and six (6) years' experience in government service or private industry. A combination of education and relevant experience may also be considered
Research experience in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science and analytics
Preferred
Experience leading teams and performing research in artificial intelligence / machine learning, specifically for cybersecurity, signal processing, biometrics, digital forensics, and/or computer vision for national security applications
Proven track record managing and executing funding at both relatively low levels (<1 full time equivalent) to larger efforts (10+ full time equivalence)
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and to participate creatively in collaborative teams across the laboratory
Ability to function well in a fast-paced research environment, set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks within given timeframes and adapt to ever changing needs
