Director of Sales, Utility
SoundThinking is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Sales Director to lead our sales initiatives within the utility sector across the United States. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong history of selling technology solutions to electric, water, or gas utilities and will manage a consultative sales process from initial prospecting through deal closure with utility clients.

Responsibilities
Identify and develop new business opportunities with utility companies; collaborate with marketing to execute targeted outreach campaigns
Lead and manage a consultative sales process from initial prospecting through deal closure with utility clients
Formulate and implement strategic account plans for utility sector customers, working closely with product sales directors and subject matter experts
Conduct onsite and virtual meetings with prospective clients to deliver presentations and facilitate sales activities
Advise utility stakeholders on regulatory compliance requirements and available funding sources
Represent the company at utility industry conferences and actively engage with attendees to promote solutions
Provide comprehensive status updates and detailed reports to senior management regarding accounts, opportunities, leads, proposals, and other relevant information
Preferably, experience using AI tools to streamline lead generation, personalize outreach, enhance forecasting, and identify deal risks to help prioritize efforts and close business more efficiently
Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned territory (approximately 60%)
Qualification
Required
At least five years of experience selling technology solutions to the utility industry
Superior written and verbal communication skills
Proven ability to deliver engaging presentations and demonstrate expertise in utility operations and technologies
Strong organizational and time management skills
Proficiency in Salesforce with a track record of accurate forecasting
Preferred
Experience using AI tools to streamline lead generation, personalize outreach, enhance forecasting, and identify deal risks to help prioritize efforts and close business more efficiently
Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned territory (approximately 60%)
