Region Traffic Engineer
The Utah Department of Transportation is seeking a Region Traffic Engineer to oversee traffic and safety functions in Region Two. The role involves managing traffic operations engineering in project development, coordinating safety improvement programs, and leading various engineering and planning efforts.

Responsibilities
Reviewing and responding to both public and private concerns on operational areas and on issues related to traffic engineering
Coordinating with central traffic and safety and maintenance division to develop highway safety improvement program projects in Region Two
The development of scope, cost and construction of the highway safety improvement program projects in Region Two
Applying the knowledge and techniques of engineering in planning, developing, designing, review, and construction of state transportation projects
Performing and reviewing crash analyses and present findings at region and UDOT-wide meetings
Assisting and coordinating with UDOT Traffic Operations Center (TOC) and others on traffic modeling, studies, and planning efforts
Representing UDOT Region Two on engineering/planning teams for regional studies and other planning efforts, traffic safety studies, and project teams
Completing other duties as assigned
Sets goals, establishes priorities, manages resources, develops concepts and approaches, reviews projects progress and results; makes management decisions
Oversees the development, evaluation or review of plans and criteria for a variety of activities; assesses feasibility of proposed plans, projects and equipment
Plans and manages projects and/or programs. Writes (or discusses) project/program plan(s), recommendation(s) and/or finding(s)
Supervises subordinate personnel including: hiring, determining workload and delegating assignments, training, monitoring and evaluating performance, and initiating corrective or disciplinary actions
Develops, directs, and/or evaluates programs
Coordinates and/or acts as a liaison between agency or work unit and other agencies, work units, organizations, suppliers, etc
Participates in the selection of consulting engineers, oversees and reviews their work product
Qualification
Required
A Bachelors degree or higher in civil engineering from an accredited university
A professional engineer (PE) license in Utah in accordance with the provisions of Utah Code Annotated 58-22
Two years of engineering experience following licensure as a PE
