Director of Technology
Rowland+Broughton Architecture and Interior Design is seeking a Director of Technology who will be responsible for developing software and executing the firm’s overall technology vision. This role involves overseeing all IT systems and emerging technology initiatives, with a core focus on AI adoption and enhancing digital workflows to support design and operational excellence.

Responsibilities
Develop and implement a firm-wide technology strategy and multi-year roadmap aligned with design excellence, efficiency, and innovation
Evaluate and pilot emerging technologies, including computational tools, digital fabrication, and automation platforms
Lead firm-wide initiatives to enhance digital design workflows, project delivery, and client engagement
Oversee daily IT operations including network administration, systems management, hardware/software lifecycle, and security
Ensure availability, scalability, and performance of all IT systems, including cloud environments, backups, and disaster recovery
Establish policies for systems use, documentation standards, and internal management information systems
Serve as the firm’s subject-matter expert for BIM and digital production technologies, with deep expertise in Revit and related platforms
Lead design technology specialists and collaborate with project teams to implement best practices, templates, and standards
Foster a culture of collaboration, knowledge sharing, innovation, and continuous improvement
Develop and manage the annual technology budget
Negotiate contracts and maintain relationships with software, hardware, and cloud service providers along with consultant coordination
Establish and enforce standards for hardware, software, cybersecurity, data integrity, and system documentation
Ensure compliance with relevant data protection regulations and industry best practices
Communicate technical concepts to nontechnical audiences and support project teams in resolving complex technology challenges
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, architecture, or a related field
Minimum of 10-15+ years of experience with at least 5 years in a leadership or senior enterprise architecture role
Strong knowledge of architectural design software and experience managing implementation and use
Expert understanding of IT infrastructure, networking, cloud environments, and cybersecurity principles
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts
Proven problem-solving skills and a strategic mindset focused on continuous improvement
Previous experience in architecture, interior design, or engineering environment
