Reporting Developer

Kforce has a client in Austin, TX that is seeking a Reporting Developer. The role involves designing and maintaining Java-based services for financial calculations and collaborating with various teams to ensure consistent data delivery and enhance software stability and performance.

Computer Software

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and maintain Java-based services for financial calculations (projections, tax models, scenario analysis)
Build backend components powering client-facing features like reporting tools
Deliver clean, testable, and high-performance code
Collaborate with UI and API teams to ensure consistent data delivery
Convert complex financial logic and regulations into scalable software models
Partner with analysts to clarify rules, validate outcomes, and resolve edge cases
Investigate and fix issues in calculations and reporting outputs
Apply curiosity and financial interest to improve modeling approaches
Write unit tests, document logic flows, and participate in code reviews
Provide QA handoffs with test plans and validation steps
Enhance stability, performance, and security across RESTful services and integrations
Address issues by collaborating with user groups and support teams
Communicate technical progress and trade-offs clearly
Identify and remediate security vulnerabilities per best practices
Work closely with engineers, analysts, and QA to deliver production-ready solutions
Engage in agile ceremonies, architecture reviews, and design discussions
Foster a culture of learning through feedback and collaboration

Required

Bachelor's or Master's degree in CS, Engineering, or related field
2-4 years of Java development experience (internships/projects count)
Strong problem-solving and system reasoning skills

Familiarity with Spring, Hibernate, MySQL; Exposure to Git and agile
Comfortable implementing precise business rules
Must love dogs - they're in the office daily!

Preferred

Experience with financial logic or domain modeling
