Research Analyst

The University of Chicago is seeking an entry-level Research Analyst to join their Center for Health and the Social Sciences (CHeSS). The role involves providing expert statistical consulting services, performing data management and analysis, and supporting research in healthcare delivery and policy.

Responsibilities

Conduct in-depth quantitative analyses for both internally and externally funded health services research projects, including observational studies and randomized controlled trials
Work with diverse data sources, such as claims data (including the Merative MarketScan® Research Databases), surveys, administrative records, and electronic health records (EHRs), to evaluate health outcomes and identify opportunities for cost reduction among various patient populations
Prepare statistical analyses and summary measures, and generate detailed reports and presentations tailored to working teams, funders, and broader audiences
Develop impactful data visualizations to communicate key findings and insights clearly and effectively to stakeholders
Participate in training and educational activities, such as preparing teaching materials and serving as a teaching assistant as needed for the Summer Program in Outcomes Research Training
Support CHeSS administrative tasks, as needed. These tasks may include serving as a liaison between CHeSS and contacts in other units such as EVS, plant, and IT services; manage CHeSS space and equipment (phones, computers); triage emails sent to the CHeSS general account; support day-to-day financial transactions; help plan CHeSS events (i.e. summer social); serve as back up for staffing chess workshops and trainings
Maintains technical and administrative support for a research project
Maintains recruiting and scheduling research subjects; assisting with developing or amending study protocols; assisting with developing data collection tools; assisting with building databases; and providing general administrative support. Has general awareness in research techniques or methods, regulatory policies and procedures, and relevant scientific field
Performs other related work as needed

Required

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field
Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through < 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline

Preferred

Bachelor's degree
Experience with research, data modeling, data analysis, and programming
Experience working with large and longitudinal health-related datasets
Knowledge of Stata
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Excellent statistical and programming skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
Motivation to explore and apply new technologies and methods to complex problems
Capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize competing objectives, and identify opportunities to work more efficiently
