Plumber Supervisor

The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies responsible for safeguarding and supervising adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. They are seeking a Plumber Supervisor to provide construction support services and oversee plumbing installations while mentoring incarcerated workers.

Responsibilities

Provide DECM-Construction’s mechanical construction team with designing, planning, scheduling, and installation of complex plumbing equipment and systems
Work hands-on in the executing, mentoring, and supervising plumbing installations performed by in-house personnel and volunteer incarcerated offender workers
Ensure compliance with NC Plumbing Codes and industry standards relating to OSHA and accepted construction industry standards

Required

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of journey level plumbing experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Valid NC Driver's License, or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire
Journeyman level plumbing trade skills
Strong construction supervision
Efficient decision-making capabilities
Ability to clearly and concisely communicate both verbally and in writing
Designing
Planning
Scheduling
Installation of complex plumbing equipment and systems, including but not limited to, toilets, urinals, sinks, fixtures, pumps, boilers, fire protection piping, overhead piping, and underground piping

Preferred

Journeyman level plumbing construction experience within commercial, institutional and or governmental construction projects
Working knowledge of plumbing equipment, piping, and underground utilities
Knowledge and understanding of NC Plumbing Codes and industry standards relating to OSHA, accepted construction industry standards, UL standards, etc
Strong ability to review and interpret construction designs, plans, and specifications for the purposes of coordinating construction installations for new construction, renovation, and major maintenance projects
