Responsibilities
Assists with supervising and evaluating assigned staff, handles all employee concerns, directs work assignments, counsels and disciplines employees when necessary, and completes employee performance appraisals
Coordinates daily assignment of bus routes and charters; coordinates A.M./P.M. equipment and operator assignments
Conducts ride checks and time checks to ensure policies, procedures, and standards are met by Operators
Ensures all state, federal, and local safety regulations and operating procedures are followed
Performs Operations Division employee training
Monitors radio traffic on fixed route and demand response service
Investigates all accidents and recommends actions to be taken
Identifies locations, initiates installation, and monitors condition of all bus stops and shelters
Assists buses that are behind schedule; initiates corrective action
Assists in development of service schedules, prepares manifests, and route descriptions for review
Assists in the preparation of public information, such as time tables, route manifests, transfers, notices, and route descriptions; maintains stock of same at distribution sites and at transit points
Maintains stock of operator supplies and uniforms; processes requests for purchase requisitions
Receives customer service reports from the public; investigates reported operator actions, and takes appropriate actions
Assists in developing and/or conducting safety programs
Pulls cash box and probes farebox data from each bus and/or counts revenues daily; makes deposits as required
Reviews and recommends new or modified bus routes to the Superintendent of Operations
Assists in developing the departmental budget; compares anticipated service levels with available personnel and equipment
Reviews completed daily assignment sheets, charter orders and contract work orders for completeness and accuracy
Operates a bus as needed
Collects pass revenue at pass sales locations; makes deposits as needed
Assists demand response vans in passenger pickups
Transports passengers who have missed their bus, as necessary
Answers telephone for public service information
Assists the dispatcher as needed
Monitors disposition of articles found within buses
Represents Athens Transit on committees; serves as a member of Accident Review Committee, reviews and rules on accidents involving Transit employees
Performs other related duties as required
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent with three years of management or transit operations experience required; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job
One year of supervisory experience required
Must possess a valid Georgia Commercial Driver's License
Flexible Schedule Options Up to 28 hours per week, Weekend Availability Required
Regular and predictable attendance is required
Must work cooperatively with others
When requirements include vehicle operation, responsible for the safety, readiness and operation of the vehicle and must abide by ACC's safe driving policy
This position is designated as an emergency position that requires your attendance at work under all types of emergency conditions
Preferred
Associates degree in business, management or related discipline preferred
