Engineering Technician III (Stormwater)
The County of Marin is dedicated to providing quality services and maintaining public infrastructure while protecting natural resources. They are seeking an Engineering Technician III for the Stormwater Division to implement stormwater program objectives through inspection, investigation, and public education related to stormwater regulations.

Responsibilities
Investigating and documenting illicit discharge complaints, construction site discharges, and other potential sources of stormwater pollution
Conducting commercial, industrial, and municipal facility inspections
Evaluating and mapping of both public and private stormwater treatment and conveyance infrastructure
Supporting water quality monitoring activities such as sample collection, data analysis, and preparation of technical reports to meet National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit and regional water board requirements
Assisting with outreach and training for contractors, businesses, municipal staff, students, and members of the public on stormwater best management practices (BMPs) and pollution prevention measures
Using office software, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), asset management, and database tools to track stormwater facilities, inspections, and enforcement actions
Qualification
Required
Equivalent to graduation from high school, supplemented by at least one course in each of the following: trigonometry and computer-aided drafting, and four years of experience in engineering work at a sub professional level
Demonstrated experience in the inspection and evaluation of stormwater systems, including public and private treatment infrastructure
Strong technical, investigative, and communication skills
Solid understanding of stormwater management principles, water quality protection, and environmental regulations
Experience conducting field investigations, collecting and analyzing water quality data
Proficiency in using GIS and database tools to support mapping, tracking, and reporting efforts
Ability to communicate effectively with contractors, property owners, and agency partners
Knowledge of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry as applied to engineering work
Ability to use computers and relevant software
Ability to read, interpret and prepare maps, blueprints and sketches
Ability to train, supervise, and evaluate the work of subordinate staff
Ability to keep accurate records and prepare reports
Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with others
Preferred
Knowledge of GPS and GIS, drafting and/or graphics
Experience in stormwater facility maintenance and erosion control
Familiarity with BMPs for pollution prevention
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
