Business Development Director

Responsibilities
Lead the identification of new Strategic Business Initiatives (SBI) and Business Initiatives (BI)
Conduct in-depth market research and consumer insight research to validate the underlying assumptions of each SBI and BI
Ensure all initiatives are rooted in unmet consumer needs, distinct market gaps, and competitive differentiation
Leverage data-driven methodologies to test feasibility, pricing elasticity, and adoption potential
Develop robust business cases covering revenue potential, cost structure, margin projections, and scalability
Define and refine SBI assumptions (e.g., market scale, consumer adoption rate, regulatory pathways) and validate them through pilot projects or customer feedback
Align each initiative with the company’s overall strategy, ensuring a consumer-centric approach that aligns with target markets
Develop actionable business plans featuring clear timelines, commercial models, and go-to-market (GTM) strategies
Translate high-level initiatives into execution roadmaps actionable by the sales team
Equip sales teams with validated assumptions, supporting documents, and customer value propositions to facilitate effective rollout
Identify, engage, and negotiate with strategic partners or Key Accounts (KAs) to accelerate SBI adoption
Secure collaboration frameworks (e.g., Third-Party Master License Agreements [TMLAs], Joint Venture [JV] agreements, licensing agreements) aligned with strategic objectives
Oversee the execution of pilot projects, proof-of-concept (PoC) trials, and commercialization roadmaps
Track SBI and BI progress using measurable Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and ensure a seamless transition from strategy to execution
Serve as a liaison between strategic planning and commercial execution teams, ensuring seamless handover
Provide regular updates to senior leadership on SBI/BI validation progress, business plan advancement, and commercial readiness
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in business, Nutrition, or Life Sciences required
10+ years of experience in dietary supplements, nutraceuticals, or health products
Deep knowledge of US distribution channels and CPG customer landscape
Proven track record of building pipelines, closing complex deals, and delivering growth in a B2B environment
Experience with ingredient sourcing or finished goods
Skilled in complex negotiations, contract structuring, and risk management
Strong command of CRM systems (Salesforce preferred)
Comfortable making data-driven decisions and reporting on KPIs
