Responsibilities
Lead and perform engineering design for high- and medium-voltage protection and control systems
Review and approve design deliverables prepared by others on behalf of the client
Interpret and apply client engineering standards and guidelines to new and existing projects
Oversee project planning, coordination, and design reviews across multiple concurrent projects
Collaborate closely with the client’s engineering, operations, and project management teams to guide technical decisions and ensure alignment on project goals
Manage project schedules, deliverables, and documentation to support on-time, high-quality completion
Provide construction and commissioning support, including troubleshooting and field coordination when needed
Ensure compliance with client procedures, document control practices, and regulatory requirements
Support and mentor other engineers on best practices in protection design and project execution
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline required
5+ years of experience in utility, consulting, or related engineering environments
In-depth understanding of protection and control design principles and relay-based protection systems
Experience with microprocessor-based relay configuration software is required
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Smartsheets, and Adobe Acrobat
Excellent leadership, communication, and project coordination skills
Ability to manage multiple projects independently and effectively
Preferred
Familiarity with communication protocols, pilot protection schemes, and SCADA systems preferred
Strong familiarity with AutoCAD and cross-disciplinary projects preferred
Completion of the Professional Engineering (PE) exam preferred; interest in obtaining PE licensure encouraged
