Responsibilities

Develops timely and accurate structural cost estimates to be utilized for awardability of contractors' bids

Develops evaluation techniques for determining alternate estimating methods with minimal divergence from actual cost

Develops special provisions and specifications for new products and techniques used in structures

Prepares final review and coordination of structural plans and proposals prior to the advertisement for bids

Trains, evaluates, and motivates subordinates to ensure a well-developed and competent staff

Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees

Performs other duties as assigned

Qualification

Licensed Professional EngineerCivil Engineering ExperienceIllinois Structural Engineer LicenseCooperative RelationshipsCommunication Skills

Required

Current registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Illinois

Five years of experience in civil engineering

Preferred

Current Illinois Structural Engineer license

Ability to develop and maintain cooperative relationships with departmental staff and the public

Strong oral and written communication skills
