LOG Yearbook Staff Designer

University of Portland is seeking a LOG Yearbook Staff Designer for a student volunteer experience position. The role involves collaborating with the LOG Yearbook Design Editor and other staff members to design and execute the overall layout of the yearbook using InDesign.

Responsibilities

Designs 11-12 Spreads per semester (utilizing InDesign)
Collaborates with Design Editor to establish and follow style guide and master book file
Checks for design consistency during pre-submission deadline sessions
In a timely manner, makes editors or redesigns after Design Editor and/or Editor-in-Chief have requested changes
Work with other Design team members to successfully execute design for 172-page yearbook, from brainstorming to final publication
Participation includes attending weekly meetings (1-2 a week). Editor and Advisor should be advised of absence in advance
Other relevant duties as assigned

Required

Creative, self-motivated, organized individual
Interest and/or experience in graphic design and/or student journalism
Basic knowledge of graphic design software Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly InDesign

Preferred

Past yearbook or student newspaper experience preferred but not required
